The sunglasses just make things look darker but not more comfortable - although I appreciate the suggestion. I am also wondering if perhaps my eyes are sensitive to the flickering of the CCFL lights although I cannot perceive this flickering consciously. The fonts don't appear fuzzy so it seems to be more of a lighting issue. Does it make the picture appear more clear? I I did do the Clear-Type optimizing and there is not much change. I can get the HDMI adapter but I am a bit confused as to what change this will make. Mostly I just wanted to check here to be sure there weren't any settings that might make a difference and to see if others experienced this. I am mostly accustomed to working on a 17" laptop so perhaps it is just too intense for me. As far as it being a possible health issue, it seems unlikely since this only happens after spending time in front of the monitor. In the end, you might just have to get a different monitor, but I have no idea how you would determine which monitor would work for you, other than to try some. ![]() Or you can go old-school WordPerfect, with light text on a blue background. Also, some people like to use a more yellow background, kind of like those lined yellow notepads, to reduce eyestrain. For text, have you tried other background colors? A co-worker (another programmer) likes to use the old terminal colors, like colored text on a black background, because he says it's easier on his eyes than dark text on a white background. Just as a test, have you tried using sunglasses, to see if it is the brightness that is causing the issue? If that helps, then maybe a large ND filter sheet would be useful, if you can find one that covers the monitor.ĥ. Before I return the monitor, I was hoping some experienced members might have some advice. While I am impressed with the realistic images on the screen, I have constant headaches/eye strain from the monitor. I have been an amateur photographer for years but I am ready to take it to the next level. I am new to the forums and hoping for some advice.
